UKIBC welcomes the announcement issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India

UKIBC welcomes the announcement issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), extending the enforcement date for the labelling provisions under the Food Safety and Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) First Amendment Regulations, 2025. These provisions were originally notified on 20 June 2025 with an enforcement deadline of 1 January 2026.
By extending the enforcement date to 1 July 2026, FSSAI has responded constructively to industry concerns regarding mid-year compliance changes, operational challenges, and coordination with State Excise registration cycles. This demonstrates a progressive and supportive approach toward improving the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in India.
UKIBC appreciates this thoughtful decision, which provides businesses with greater predictability and adequate time to adapt to revised labelling requirements. We look forward to continued engagement with FSSAI in fostering a transparent, stable, and enabling regulatory environment for trade and investment.
