Barclays announces creation of new campus in Pune

World Class Facility to house Barclays Global Service Centre, accommodate 8800 employees

Pune/Mumbai, 23 April, 2018 – Barclays announces the creation of a new world class Campus in Pune to house Barclays Global Service Centre. The campus, which will be developed over the next two years, will play an important role in Barclays’ future and bring together a number of Technology, Operations and Functions teams into a single state-of-the-art work environment.

To create the new campus, Barclays has agreed to lease 1.09 million Sq. Ft. office space in Gera Commerzone Kharadi, Pune. The campus will accommodate 8800 employees and will be Barclays’ largest facility outside its global headquarters in London. This significant investment and commitment represents an important milestone for Barclays’ operations in India. Once ready, the new campus will accommodate all teams currently working in different locations in Pune, teams will begin to move into the new campus in phases beginning September 2019.

Elaborating on plans for the campus, Paul Compton, Group Chief Operating Officer, Barclays said, “We have ambitious plans to create a truly unique workplace, with the latest technology and vibrant work environment. This will help us accelerate collaboration and innovation across teams, and enhance our ability to deliver world-class services to customers, clients and colleagues across the globe.”

Through this investment, Barclays will be creating new jobs, promoting the UK-India Trade Corridor, and playing a key role in the Indian government’s Make in India initiative.

Setting up of the new campus in Pune is in line with Barclay’s global location strategy to establish regional campuses to enhance flexibility and resiliency. In addition to dynamic, state of the art work spaces, the campus will include recreational facilities to promote health and well-being.

Barclays Global Service Centre (previously called Barclays Technology Centre of India) provides end-to-end world class technology and operations solutions & services to Barclays’ businesses globally and employs 16,000 people with offices across Pune, Chennai, Mumbai and Noida.
