Group Chief Executive of UK India Business Council Honoured by Her Majesty The Queen

The UK India Business Council congratulates Mr. Richard Heald, Group Chief Executive, who has been appointed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to economic and trade relations between UK and India. Mr. Heald has been leading the UK India Business Council since 2010.

During this period, the UK India Business Council, working in partnership with the UKTI, has expanded rapidly extending its scope and reach both in India and in the UK. Latterly, the organisation has evolved into a full provider of export services to small and medium sized companies with offices in Mumbai, Bangalore and Gurgaon as well as regional representation across the UK. The UK India Business Council also provides sector focused policy advocacy and consultancy to members and major corporates.

Before joining the UK India Business Council, Mr.Heald worked for Rothschild for over 17 years and has over 30 years’ experience of the international financial markets. Twenty of these years of which has been focused on advisory and capital raisings for governments and major corporate across the globe. From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Heald worked as Vice Chairman, Rothschild, India, where he played a key role in advising UK and Indian companies on spin-offs and capital raisings, secondary capital raisings, outbound and inbound M&A, as well as the provision of debt and restructuring.

Richard Heald said: “This is a tremendous surprise and honour and I feel very humbled. I regard this as much a recognition of the growing impact of the UK India Business Council. As such I would like to acknowledge the efforts of colleagues within the UK India Business Council and within the UKTI UK

India economic relations are strengthening quickly – all the more so after the meeting of the two Prime Ministers in November 2015. I see the UK India Business Council as playing an increasingly important supporting role to the efforts of both Governments.’
