The UK India Business Council is delighted to invite you to join our upcoming webinar on opportunities in the Indian alcoholic beverages market. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, 4 December from 10:00 am (GMT).

The Indian alcoholic beverages market is the third largest and one of the fastest growing in the world with the current valuation at £26.8 billion accompanied by the high growth rate of 7.9% per annum (CAGR 2018-2021). Also in terms of volume, Indian alcoholic beverages industry is a leader with 850 million cases consumption per annum from three main segments – country origin liquor, Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer with the market being dominated by domestically produced spirits.

Rapid growth of the alcoholic beverages industry in India is fueled by rise in disposable income of the Indian population accompanied by changing consumption behavior. As the consumption by women in tier 1 & 2 cities has increased along with the rising popularity of alcoholic drinks amongst India’s huge young population base. Around half of the 1.3 billion people are under 25 and most of the alcohol is consumed by people between the ages of 25 and 40.

Premiumisation is another significant trend which results in increased consumption of the alcoholic beverages, as manufacturers launch premium drinks across different categories and consumers trade up for better quality brands and imported products. Just as rise in consumption of premium craft beer by middle and upper class population in India.
