Nipun Gupta is the Co-head of the India Strategy Group for Bird & Bird,  an international law firm with 1600 lawyers in over 32 offices. Nipun has advised clients on mergers and acquisitions with a particular expertise in emerging and developing markets. Her client base ranges from start-ups to blue chip conglomerates.

Nipun received the Legal Era Global Achievers Award 2022 recognising cross-border Indiadesk lawyers for their legal finesse, innovation and accomplishments and being named asa Global icon. The award “especially noted the important role these lawyers played in placing India on the global map as a favoured nation for investments and galvanising our economic growth”.

Nipun is named one of the top 100 A list international lawyers for India-related matters in 2025 – IBLJ

Nipun was an independent director of Aricent Technology India, Rackspace India and Omnicell India Private Limited and is currently a NED of Evonith Value Steel Limited and Evonith Metallics Limited.

Prior to her current role, Nipun was an equity partner at Bird & Bird in their London office.

Earlier Nipun was a partner at White & Case, a US law firm, in corporate M & A.

Formerly Nipun was Global Head of Legal and compliance for Ispat International Group (now rebranded Arcelor Mittal).

Nipun was on the strategic committee of the Green Oorja alongside BP, IIT, CBC and Tata Group. This initiative was a multi-country collaborative effort of Governments; Industry and Academia to promote development of alternative/clean energy technologies and energy conservation techniques in India.

Nipun was on the The Bank of England – Asian Business Panel and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Asian Business Association.

She qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales in 1994.
