Larry Stone is Chairman of BT in India. He is responsible for providing leadership and oversight on all key issues of a governance, legal, regulatory & external affairs, people and compliance nature across BT’s Indian operations. He will report regularly to the Group Executive Committee.
He was President, Group Public & Government Affairs from 2009-17 responsible for public affairs and policy advocacy for the group globally, with people in London, Brussels, Washington, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
He is a member of BT’s Senior Management Team, chairs BT’s geo-political risk committee and is a member of BT’s Brexit Steering Group. Larry is on the Transatlantic Business Council ,and British American Business, Boards; and the Strategy Board of the European Policy Centre (EPC). Larry was BT Group Company Secretary from 2002-8, looking after board matters, group security, compliance, group risk management, insurance programmes, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. Larry was a Trustee of the BT Pension Scheme during that period, and a member of London Stock Exchange Primary Markets Group.
Before this role, he spent over a decade working for BT in Tokyo and and in Brussels. He was Honorary Colonel of 81 Signal Squadron in the British Army Reserve from 2006-16. Larry (60) has degrees in Law (LL.B) and in Communications Policy (MA).
He is married with one daughter. His interests include sport (cricket, rugby, golf), mineralogy and books. He is a member of the Japan Society and of the Honourable Artillery Company in the UK.
