Better Together- Sustainable Development Alliance 2025
With India progressing rapidly towards its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, the private sector has an increasingly important role to play in catalysing socio-economic transformation. India and the UK have long-standing ties anchored in trade, investment, and shared values. UKIBC believes that UK businesses can be key partners in supporting India’s sustainable development journey through greater collaboration, industrial innovation, and responsible business practices.
UKIBC’s ‘Better Together’ March 2025 Report showcases how UK companies are actively contributing to India’s Sustainable Development Goals (Goals) agenda, supporting both national priorities and global sustainability efforts. It outlines examples of UK-India corporate and academia-led initiatives across key sectors such as clean energy, green finance, sustainable agriculture, water management, and social inclusion.
By highlighting existing partnerships and industry consultations, the Report demonstrates how British businesses are embedding socio-economic and environmental impact into their operations and strategy in India. In addition to mapping the progress made so far, the Report offers forward-looking recommendations on ways to scale-up the UK-India collaboration towards India’s development goals against the UN’s SDG framework.
The UKIBC’s Sustainable Development Alliance (SDA) is an initiative that provides a platform for businesses, universities and to engage with policymakers, share success stories, and forge partnerships. Through research, events, and regular dialogue, the SDA highlights how responsible UK businesses are making tangible contributions to India’s inclusive and sustainable development.
The SDA reaffirms the vital role of businesses in accelerating sustainable and inclusive development—underscoring that progress toward the SDGs is best achieved when the private sector, government, and civil society work in unison.
