UKIBC Managing Director Kevin McCole discusses ease of doing business with Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Rajendra Ratnoo

By Kealan Finnegan

On a webinar on Wednesday 15th December, UKIBC Managing Director, Kevin McCole, and DPIIT Joint Secretary, Rajendra Ratnoo, together discussed the importance of ease of doing business and the Government of India’s priorities to attract investment to India and support businesses in-country.

As well as welcoming a continuous dialogue between business and government, and referencing the Government of India’s earlier deliberations based on business feedback in the UKIBC’s Doing Business in India Report series, Mr Ratnoo reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to a “facilitatory India which is investor friendly and business friendly” and continually aims to “make it easier and simpler to do business in India”.

In spite of the discontinuation of the World Bank’s ease of doing business rankings (earlier this year), Mr Ratnoo maintained that the Government of India remains committed to promote the ease of doing business in India. Significant and positive reforms have been “relentless” in recent years as Kevin remarked, with simplified procedures and processes, alongside significant infrastructure improvements all contributing to FDI growth.

The continued focus on ease of doing business is driven by strong determination and commitment led by the Prime Minister of India on a positive reform journey for India to support business and growth across the country.

The UKIBC warmly welcomes the Government of India’s openness to constructive feedback from business and in its efforts to foster a strong and simplified business environment.
