As part of the Leicester Business Festival, Gateway to India promotes better links between the Midlands and India

Join the British Deputy High Commissioner for Gujarat and senior UK Trade advisers to find out more about opportunities for Midlands businesses in India, within the Chandigarh and Gujarat regions.

Hosted by Leicester City Council in partnership with Santander, the Department for International Trade, LLEP Business Gateway and East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, the event will focus on trade and investment opportunities with India, concentrating on two regions: Chandigarh and Gujarat.

Following recent visits involving Deputy British High Commissioners for Chandigarh and Gujarat, the connections are in place to create a far reaching event with links to in country contacts. Growth sectors in India include Low Carbon, Infrastructure, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace, Automotive, Life and Bio Sciences and Education.

Hear from key note speakers including the British Deputy High Commissioner for Gujarat and the Ambassador for the Indian High Commission in London. A range of workshops will showcase the large range of opportunities available to UK businesses, support to access these opportunities and how to prepare to export to India for the first time. The “Exporting is Great” truck will be at the event with International Trade Advisors offering one to one meetings.

This event is being promoted across the Midlands Engine area, and cements Leicester’s role within the Engine as lead area for trade with India. It will also serve as a step towards linking with the ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ celebration in February 2017, activity for which may involve trade missions.
