Mike Connarty retired from Standard Life in 2015. He has recently established his own consultancy company.

During his 38 year career with Standard Life, Mike held a number of senior management positions in Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, Marketing and Project Management and, more recently, as Company Secretary and Compliance Director of Standard Life Bank and Director of International Investments, Standard Life Group ( responsible for Standard Life’s Joint Venture Life Companies in both India and China).

In 2000 he led the project to establish HDFC Standard Life – the first Life Assurance Company to be established and licensed in India as the market was liberalised. From 2007-2015 he sat on the Board of HDFC Standard Life ( now HDFC Life), now the leading Life JV in India.

From 2010-2015 he was director on the Board of Heng An Standard Life, Standard Life’s Joint Venture Life Assurance Company in China.

He has been a governor on the Court of Edinburgh Napier University since 2008.

Mike is a graduate of law from Edinburgh University and an MBA.

He is married with a son and a daughter.
