Chris Parsons has been with Herbert Smith Freehills for over 30 years and for the past 10 years has been the Chairman of the firm’s India Practice. He was based in Hong Kong in the 1980’s and from 2001 spent 3 years in Singapore as Managing Partner, SE Asia. For most of his career he has been based in London working on cross border deals.
Apart from time with clients, Chris lectures at a number of Law Schools in India which includes a joint programme with Oxford University, now in its fifth year. Chris also helps guide the firm’s social initiatives in India which includes HSF Bridge, a project that links law students with local causes.
Chris is the relationship partner for a number of Indian companies and has been involved on some leading deals including (i) Bharti’s acquisition of Zain Africa, (ii) Godrej’s joint venture with the Darling Group across Africa (iii) Essar’s arrangements with Vodafone, (iv) the investment by Diageo in United Spirits and (v) the Strides disposal to Mylan.
He is married to Debbie and has four children.
