The UK India Business Council is looking for an Export Development Executive

Position: Export Development Executive
Location: London
Contract: Fixed Term – 9 months
Salary: £20,000
Key Benefits: Pension, 25 days holiday pro rata, quarterly company incentive scheme
Reporting to: Head of Commercial Services
Hours: Full time

This newly created role is a varied one, and would suit someone with an interest in international trade and a desire to both learn and play a role in the development and growth of UK revenues. This fixed term contract will be evaluated with a view to becoming a permanent role.

You will support the development of trading relationships for UK businesses in India. UK India Business Council play a fundamental role in the UK Government’s strategy to increase trade between UK and India. We support the highly publicised “exporting is great” government campaigns, by creating export opportunities with Indian companies for all types of UK businesses.

You will need to be well organised, personable (liaising with, both internal stakeholders and multiple external clients, be able to research businesses effectively and create new relationships). Additionally, you will be responsible for key reporting provided monthly to the Department of International Trade.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

You are likely to be degree educated; this role is suitable for someone taking their first career steps looking to gain experience in a business consultancy environment, with a strong interest in business and international trade, and possessing an interest in developing client relations and client development skills or further honing this following early experience in a previous role.

Experience and understanding of India would be favourably considered, though is not a pre-requisite. A good understanding of corporate and business-to-business communication (written and verbal) and an ability to establish rapport and gain a clear understanding of your clients is key.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Account Management:
To manage assigned clients who have expressed an interest in exporting to India

Export Research:
To research UK businesses that are a match to priority opportunities.

Export Development:
To engage decision makers in researched businesses positioning priority export opportunities

Customer Service:
Manage general enquiries, liaising with client and colleagues to provide prompt, accurate responses

Export Opportunities Posted:
To maintain up-to-date knowledge on our export opportunity funnel to support UK businesses

Export Opportunity Process:
Hone, refine the client experience by recommending improvements to the process across all functions

UKIBC Offering:
To position our suite of services, assessing what service/s will best support your client’s India plans

Commercial referrals:
To identify export respondents who will benefit from tailored UKIBC commercial solutions

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Relationship management experience (ideally with C Level executives)
• Demonstrable understanding and appreciation of business drivers for international trade
• Able to work with colleagues across different locations and time zones
• Intermediate Microsoft skills
• Experience using CRM (desirable)
