Syed Anwar Hasan, who is currently Director of Tata Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Sons, joined the TATA Group in Calcutta with Tata Steel. After holding several executive positions with Tata Steel he was appointed in 1987 as Executive Vice President with TRF and was Managing Director from 1989-1999 of that Company. He was appointed Managing Director of Tata Limited on 1 April 1999.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Nizam College, Hyderabad (Osmania University) and he has been President of the Jamshedpur Management Association, Member of CII Eastern Region Council and President of the Bulk Material Handlers Association of India.
He is a Director of several of the Tata Group Companies in the UK, including Tata Beverage Group, Tata Motors European Technical Centre, Corus Netherlands BV, Tata Capital and Piaggio Aero Industries, S.P.A. amongst others.
