Agusta Westland and Tatas JV to set up helicopter facility in Hyderabad

(April 2012) Indian Rotorcraft, a joint venture company of Tata Sons and Agusta Westland, a Finmeccanica group company, has started setting up a new helicopter production facility in India. The joint venture will initially start producing the 8-seat AW119Ke light helicopter, with production commencing from mid-2013. The JV will assemble, customise and flight-test new helicopters at a facility in Hyderabad for the Indian and global markets.

This year’s seen a healthy start for UK-Indian collaborations.

BP will make a £4.4 billion investment into India – one of the biggest foreign direct investments to date. They’ll partner Reliance Industries to search for deepwater oil and gas.

India’s budget airline, IndiGo, has ordered 180 aircraft from Airbus, costing £10 billion – the world’s biggest ever commercial plane order.
